I was looking for a really nice chess board for my girlfriend's birthday and after spending hours online looking at every possible type I kept coming back to this board. It's not cheap, there's lots of $30 boards out there and when you spend this much for a glorified cutting board you bite your nails till you open the box!! The moment I took it out of the package I KNEW I'd made the right choice! This is a VERY beautiful piece of wood, it's smooth as silk and the finish is fabulous, the pictures that Best Chess.com have are those generic manufaturer pictures that make you pause before buying it, you wonder if it will really look that good...WELL IT DOES! It's huge and solid and the inlay is as good as anything out there. This is one of those times I'm glad I took a chance, Best Chess really should take more realistic pictures so you can see that it's a gorgeous board that will last a lifetime and be not just a amazing chess playing platform but a beautiful piece of art that will make your living room look great! Do I wish I could have gotten it cheaper?..Yes..but when you're looking for a board that's a one time purchase that you will have for years to come you get your money's worth here! Why there are no reviews here on this board mystifies me, I may make a table to lay it in and have a dedicated chess board table. Worth every penny!
